There Is Still Room

There Is Still Room
Based off my sermon on Luke 14:15-24, and leading into our celebration of communion.

As in the story, all servants of God need to be saying, “There is still room.” Room for grace in this time of judgment, room for unity in the face of division, room for careful words in this sea of reckless shouting, there is still room.

There is still room. We have room in the seats next to us, there is room all around, and we should not stop witnessing, this is when the Church stands its ground.

When will we see that God has sent us out into the streets. To invite them to the table, to invite all we meet.

How do we stand in the light, and proclaim so much joy, When we stand here like little kids and say, “Look I have the toy!”

This prize we call salvation, we have kept it safe and we have kept it clean. But if we are the only ones out of darkness what does it really mean?

To live in the light means that we have this joy at least, Jesus says this is my gift for all, there is still room at the feast.

The unworthy, the sinful, the poor, crippled, and lame. This table is ready, for we are really just the same.

Have we given up hope in this time that needs Christ more than ever, forgetting that love cannot die, not now, not ever.

God will reject those who deny his invitation, but this opens up room for the grace of salvation.

The church is faithful and the church is about love, what else can we do when we set our sights on things up above.

Because we are the church called to take this stand, even if it is not popular, it is his demand.

This feast is for many not just a few, Jesus proclaimed to all, they do not know what they do.

We are sinful people and we often act as if we are the ones who are lost, but this is the hope for salvation that Jesus paid the cost.

He has won, all battles and everything against the beast, so that one day we will have victory and all evil will cease.

We are called to love the poor and love the least, telling the good news, there is still room at this feast.
